The Personal Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei in Nigeria, has adopted some measures to ensure the protection of children and young people

Nigeria waited 19 years for this visit. The last time the Prelate of Opus Dei came was in 1999. Many prayed and waited eagerly for July 19 and when the day finally came, nothing could be compared to the joy all felt that "He was here!"

Over seven days, the Prelate of Opus Dei met with hundreds of people.

July 25 was the last full day of the Prelate's trip to Nigeria. At 9.50 am he arrived at the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT), a social welfare project set up to provide technical skills to out-of-school young people.

On Tuesday July 24, the Prelate travelled from Lagos to meet other faithful of Opus Dei and their friends.

Helping highly placed people to be professionally competent and virtuous have the same benefits of an ice-capped mountain, which with the appearance of the sun, melts and waters the valleys below.

The Father encourages young people not to be content with being good people, but to seek a closer "identification" with Jesus Christ and to become apostles

With reference to the forthcoming Synod on the vocation of young persons, the Prelate held up the example of the young Apostle John, explaining that many young people have the supernatural and natural maturity to make commitments.

On day three of his visit to Nigeria, the Prelate of Opus Dei met many in gatherings at the Lagoon School Lekki, and at the Lagos Business School.
