Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz visited El Salvador from 13 to 15 August. Speaking to families and young people, he emphasised that, despite suffering — and indeed alongside it — it is possible to be happy, because love is what gives us the strength to do anything.

Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz, prelate of Opus Dei, is on a pastoral trip through Central America that began in Guatemala City from 4-9 August. He visited Honduras (San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa) from 10-12 August, and he will now continue to the final leg of the journey in El Salvador, ending on 15 August. “We have a great mission: to transmit true peace, which is Jesus Christ.” With these words, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz invites us to live Christmas by sharing the immense and extraordinary message of the Gospel: the love of God who becomes small in order to come very close to each person.

Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz spent close to a month in Pamplona. Before returning to Rome, he took part in a gathering attended by thousands of people, mostly families connected with Opus Dei’s apostolic activities in Navarre, the Basque Country, La Rioja, and Soria. It was held last Thursday, 23 July, at the University of Navarre’s sports center.

He spent six days in Guatemala, from 4 to 9 August. One theme came up in nearly every gathering: that happiness requires a heart in love, not necessarily an easy life. Having met with priests, young people, university students, and families in Guatemala, Msgr. Ocáriz now continues his pastoral trip on to Honduras and El Salvador.

On February 16, during the meeting, they discussed various topics about current developments of the Work throughout the world, and the Holy Father gave his apostolic blessing for the members of Opus Dei and all those who participate in its apostolates.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations marking the start of IESE's activities in Madrid, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz, Grand Chancellor of the University of Navarre and Prelate of Opus Dei, visited the campus and gave this lecture to an audience of more than 600 employees and alumni.
