Following the publication of Pope Francis’ Motu Proprio Vos estis lux mundi (2019), Opus Dei’s Prelate, Msgr. Fernando Ocariz, issued guidelines for the whole Prelature regarding all types of abuse: Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei: Guidelines for the Protection of Minors and Other Vulnerable Persons (2020). In these guidelines, he applies to the Prelature the guiding principles for the protection of children, youth and vulnerable persons enunciated by the Holy Father in the norms given for Vatican City on March 26, 2019.

Also, in accord with guidelines issued by the CCCB (Protecting Minors from Sexual Abuse, 2018), the Prelature in Canada approved a protocol for dealing with allegations of sexual abuse of children, youth and vulnerable persons and also established an Advisory Committee to study any such cases. In 2023, the Vicar for the Prelature in Canada, Msgr. Antoine de Rochebrune, approved a revised policy.

Anyone wishing to report a suspected case of sexual abuse can do so in complete confidentiality by writing to contact.opusdei@gmail.com or by calling 514-441-8397.
