Maria Teresa Santamaria Redondo passed away on Sunday, September 18th at the age of 98. She devoutly received the Anointing of the Sick on the eve of her death. A chemist of Spanish origin, Maria Teresa arrived in Montreal in 1961 and from then on gave herself completely for the expansion of Opus Dei in Quebec and Ontario.

Everyone admired Maria Teresa’s peace and calm throughout her long illness. Her tangible faith was supported by the prayer of the Prelate, the faithful of Opus Dei and her friends. The teachings of St. Josemaria, the founder of Opus Dei, inspired her entire life. Maria Teresa loved life without fearing death, which is the gateway to heaven. Her wonderful smile continues to keep us company.
