Christian tradition is confident that Jesus appeared first to his Mother after rising from the tomb, as a reward for Mary's faith and suffering.

The final day in May is the feast of our Lady's visit to her cousin Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist.

Alvaro del Portillo was born on March 11, 1914. For the centennial of his birth, the Catholic Truth Society in London has published a brief biography by Helena Scott and Ethel Tolansky entitled "The Power of Humility."

Our Lord, who called the apostles -Bishop Alvaro explains-, calls all Christians to follow Him more closely.
