“He taught me to pray as a close friend of Jesus Christ.”

The following comments are from Bobo Lee Yuen chun, an insurance agent in Hong Kong. Her husband Brian is a property manager.

“I first heard about Josemaría Escrivá when I was studying in the university more than twelve years ago. I was attending catechism classes to prepare for Baptism.

“His teachings are an invitation to live by faith. To try to reach holiness is easy—just doing your work well, conscientiously carrying out your duties and responsibilities, and offering everything to God.

“St. Josemaría taught me to pray as a close friend of Jesus Christ. He tells us how to do that in Friends of God: ‘It is not a proper Christian attitude to look upon friendship with God only as a last resort. … Those we love figure constantly in our conversations, desires and thoughts. We hold them ever present. It should be the same with God.’

“He reminds me to be generous, willing to make sacrifices that nobody notices, when I’m with others, especially my husband and daughters. For sure, if I do that with love, it will be much appreciated by God.”
