The document available in epub, mobi and PDF format includes some of the key texts from Pope Francis on the Jubilee of Mercy such as the Bull of Indiction Misericordiae Vultus promulgated last April with the Pope's call for a Holy Year of Mercy, and the letter setting out the Jubilee Indulgences published on 1 September.
With the Jubilee of Mercy, which will continue until 20 November 2016, feast of Christ the King, Pope Francis wishes that “the Christian people may reflect on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.”
As the Pope states in the Bull that opens the eBook, “the Jubilee Year has always constituted an opportunity for great amnesty, which is intended to include the many people who, despite deserving punishment, have become conscious of the injustice they worked and sincerely wish to re-enter society and make their honest contribution to it.”
Among other things, Pope Francis makes it easier for older people and prisoners to gain the indulgence, and encourages them to get closer to God during the Jubilee Year. In particular, “they may obtain the Indulgence in the chapels of the prisons. May the gesture of directing their thought and prayer to the Father each time they cross the threshold of their cell signify for them their passage through the Holy Door, because the mercy of God is able to transform hearts, and is also able to transform bars into an experience of freedom.”
