Opus Dei

Read the Old Testament and you will notice how crucial the calendar was to God’s people. It wasn’t just the Sabbath. The year featured a succession of special celebrations. Passover was the most important, followed by the Day of Pentecost, the Day Dedication and the Day of Atonement.

A philological edition prepared by Fidel Sebastián, with a foreword by the prelate of Opus Dei and brief annotations that seek to bring its history and context closer to all audiences, to commemorate the book’s 100th edition in Spain.

In this episode of “Fragments of History,” we explore the life of Aurora Nieto Funcia. She was a strong woman, a teacher and mother of three, widowed at the age of 28. In 1945, she discovered her vocation in Opus Dei as a path of dedication and encounter with God. She is considered the first supernumerary, and her story illuminates what it means to seek holiness in ordinary life.

50 years ago, St. Josemaría passed away in Rome. Here is a selection of resources to commemorate the day of his entrance into heaven.
