At the parking, the Father was received by the Chairman of the Board of the College, Dr. Godfrey Madigu (together with other members of staff) and led to the Chapel where he greeted our Lord in Blessed Sacrament.
Outside in the hallway, he was introduced to other members of staff to whom he addressed some words to encourage them in unity and in the resolve to continue finding solutions to the many difficulties faced by the students in the college, and the general Eastlands area.
Monsignor Ocariz was then shown a model of the final Eastlands College complex, and updated on the more proximate plans in terms of development of the facility. Later, with the safety jackets donned, the Father was shown around the workshops by some of the college students assisted by some of the teaching staff. A number of these students, during this tour, managed to squeeze in a question or two for the Father about working better.
The tour ended at the college fields, where the Father planted a commemorative Mwarubaini (or Neem) tree. The students and staff present chanted a few songs in typical rugby-fashion and indeed, there were some footballs and rugby balls that the Father blessed together with a foundation stone for the imminent academic building, and a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In return, the College gifted the Father a college T-shirt. There were a few minutes left for photos of all present and for the Father to give them his blessing and encouragement: “It’s a great job you’re doing here.” From there, the entire entourage danced their way to the parking lot to see off the Father.
