Letter from the Prelate (22 November 2020)

On the solemnity of Christ the King, Monsignor Ocáriz invites us to reflect on some words of Saint Josemaria in order to let Christ reign more fully in us.

My dear children: may Jesus watch over my daughters and sons for me!

Recently you received a long letter about certain characteristics of our dedication in the Work. I encourage you to continue re-reading this letter and deepening your understanding of it. I also invite the cooperators and those who take part in the work of Saint Raphael to read it carefully, since it can help you to get to know the Work better and view it more as your own.

Continue entrusting to our Lord those who yesterday received the diaconate in the special circumstances of the pandemic. Let us also pray for all the people throughout the world who are suffering as a result of it.

Today, on the solemnity of Christ the King, we can meditate once again on these words of Saint Josemaria: “For Him to reign in me, I need his abundant grace. Only then can my every heartbeat and breath, my least intense look, my most ordinary word, my most basic feeling be transformed into a hosanna to Christ my King” (Christ is Passing By, no. 181).

If personally we feel far from this goal, that is no reason to view it as impossible or to become discouraged. If we truly do what we can, God’s grace, perhaps without our realizing it, will identify our heart little by little with Christ’s.

Your Father blesses you with all his affection,
