A few months ago the medical division of Social Security called me to tell me that I was no longer entitled to health insurance and prescription drug coverage. This was terrible news because I take a medication which would cost me about 300 euros every month. The following day I started trying to figure out how to solve this problem.
It seemed that there wasn't any regulation that applied in my circumstances. Finally someone at INSALUD told me about an old law that was still in force which would apply if I had a disability of at least 33%. He told me that this was very difficult to prove, and that it would take three to six months to process the request.
On June 27th, I asked for an assessment of disability. After one month and fourteen days they called me in to tell me that I had permanent disability of 65%. Twenty two days later, on September 1st, I was granted full health insurance and prescription drug coverage at no cost to me. From the beginning I had asked Dora del Hoyo to lend me a hand, and thanks to her intercession, what had seemed difficult turned out to be not only possible, but a big improvement and in record time: 48 business days... and we're talking in summer!
