Opus Dei

The Prelate of Opus Dei is making a pastoral trip to Finland and Estonia from 22-26 November. In addition to visiting members of the Work and friends in these countries, he will attend the ordination of the new bishop of Helsinki.

In his 22 November general audience, Pope Francis continued his catechetical cycle on apostolic zeal, speaking about proclamation as a mission for everyone. It was the second of four audiences summarizing the series.

This morning, 29 faithful of Opus Dei received the diaconate from the hands of Monsignor Andrés Gabriel Ferrada, Secretary of the Dicastery for the Clergy.

Some questions and answers: what are the regional assemblies, or work weeks, of Opus Dei? When did they begin? What do the regional assemblies have to do with the centenary of Opus Dei? How does one participate?

To the faithful and friends of Opus Dei, the Prelate suggests praying for this intention in a special way from 2nd October 2023 until 2nd October 2024 (anniversaries of the founding of the Work). In his turn, echoing this petition, the Prelate's representative in the region of East and Southern Africa has proposed a similar intention that faithful and friends in this region could pray for from 31st March 2024 (Easter Sunday) to 2nd October 2024 (Anniversary of the foundation of the Work).

In his 8 November general audience, Pope Francis continued his catechetical cycle on apostolic zeal, speaking about the venerable Servant of God Madeleine Delbrêl.

"Pray to the Lord that he will bless me."

In last Wednesday's audience, Pope Francis called for a day of fasting, prayer, and penance to ask God for peace in Israel and Palestine.
