Opus Dei

Mercedes and Concha are sisters, and both are assistant numeraries. After many years of working in the administration of Opus Dei centres, they now dedicate themselves to caring for their brothers, who suffer from spastic paraplegia, and to carrying out apostolic activities in places on the Levantine coast, including Gandía and Alzira. This is a conversation between the two sisters.

In his 18 February general audience, Pope Leo XIV continued the catechetical cycle on the Second Vatican Council, speaking about the dogmatic constitution “Lumen gentium” and the mystery of the Church, sacrament of union with God and the unity of all humanity.

Pope Leo invites us to pray that children suffering from incurable diseases and their families receive the necessary medical care and support, never losing strength and hope.

In living Christian faith, much is brimming over with light. We catch a glimpse of God working wonders in our lives. We feel the power of the angel’s words: “Rejoice! The Lord is with you.” But in our lives, there is also much that is darkness.

Valentine’s Day is all about love. There are two radically different ways of looking at it. If your romance reduces to a one-night stand, it is nothing more than a lie dressed up to look like love. If a man commits himself to be faithful to one woman for his whole life and the woman commits herself in the same way, then their love is true love.

On February 16, during the meeting, they discussed various topics about current developments of the Work throughout the world, and the Holy Father gave his apostolic blessing for the members of Opus Dei and all those who participate in its apostolates.

The Holy Father invites us to look at Lent as a season of listening and fasting in community. “Lent is a time in which the Church, guided by a sense of maternal care, invites us to place the mystery of God back in the center of our lives, in order to find renewal in our faith and keep our hearts from being consumed by the anxieties and distractions of daily life.”
