Measures taken by Opus Dei in South Africa for the protection of minors and young people.

The Prelature of Opus Dei in South Africa is committed to promoting the safety, welfare and protection of minors in accordance with the current standards set out in the policy document “ Safeguarding Our Children” issued by the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SACBC).

The Prelature of Opus Dei in South Africa, following the " Guidelines for the Protection of Minors and other Vulnerable People" issued by the Prelate and dated 22 February 2020, has adopted its own Protocol for the investigation of complaints against faithful of the Prelature in regard to sexual abuse of minors. This protocol is in accordance with the “ Protocol for the investigation of complaints of sexual abuse of minors by clerics and religious – 2013 edition”, issued by South African Catholic Bishops' Conference.
