Holiness in the Workaday World

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of St. Josemaría’s canonization, Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey is holding a conference on the saint’s teachings. The conference will take place on the morning of Saturday, October 13, 2007.

Entitled “Holiness in the Workaday World, “ the conference will focus on St. Josemaría’s teaching about human work in Christian life. William J. Toth, Professor of Moral Theology, will explore the parallels between the thinking of John Paul II and St. Josemaría, focusing especially on how the pastoral insights of St. Josemaría on the secular vocation of the laity and their sanctification through work were reflected and affirmed in the official teaching of John Paul II. Professor of Law, John F. Coverdale, who worked with St. Josemaría in Rome for several years, will talk about what it was like to live and work with a saint.

The conference will conclude with a mass celebrated by the Most Reverend John J. Meyers, Archbishop of Newark.

The conference is being sponsored by Seton Hall University’s Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership . The conference is free and open to the public.
