St. Josemaría encouraged us to love and to pray for the Father every day: “Love the Father very, very much, whoever he may be. Don’t fail to make that small daily mortification, and to say with love the prayer for the one who leads us.” Today is Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz’s birthday; he was born on 27 October 1944 in Paris. Here are some resources to help us accompany him today.

From 22 to 27 August, Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz was in Uruguay, meeting with families, young people, and those involved in educational and social initiatives. We are publishing this video summary of his visit on 20 October, the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the first members of Opus Dei in the country.

In this pastoral letter, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz invites us to reflect more deeply on the call to be contemplatives in the midst of the world, in light of the life of Jesus and the example of St. Josemaría, in preparation for the centenary of the Work.

The Prelate sends his greeting on the occasion of October 2 and invites us to begin the first year of preparation for the centenary with gratitude to God and to St. Josemaría, and with the desire to be contemplatives in the middle of the world.

The Prelate of Opus Dei invites us to go to the intercession of St. Josemaría for the anniversaries of the founding of the Work and of his canonization, on October 2nd and 6th.

Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz visited El Salvador from 13 to 15 August. Speaking to families and young people, he emphasised that, despite suffering — and indeed alongside it — it is possible to be happy, because love is what gives us the strength to do anything.

The Guatemalan newspaper Prensa Libre interviewed the Prelate of Opus Dei during his visit to the country, discussing hope, the centenary, and the legacy of Dr. Ernesto Cofiño.

Video of Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz’s visit to Honduras from 10 to 12 August. In San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, whilst meeting with families, young people and the community at the Taular Institute of Technology, he emphasised the great value of everyday life because of the love that goes into it.

He spent six days in Guatemala, from 4 to 9 August. One theme came up in nearly every gathering: that happiness requires a heart in love, not necessarily an easy life. Having met with priests, young people, university students, and families in Guatemala, Msgr. Ocáriz now continues his pastoral trip on to Honduras and El Salvador.

On the occasion of his trip to Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Uruguay, the Prelate of Opus Dei invites us to reflect on unity and diversity within the Work, seen in the light of charity.
