Opus Dei

In 1931, Saint Josemaria wrote down what had happened on the morning of October 2nd, 1928, feast of the Holy Guardian Angels, when he first "saw" Opus Dei.

This article lists the current circumscriptions of Opus Dei, which include about seventy countries in which the Prelature is present.

In the Prelature of Opus Dei, junior candidates are people between fourteen and a half and sixteen and a half years old who, seeking to respond to a call from the Lord, have expressed their desire to join the Prelature when they reach the required age.

Protocol of the Opus Dei Prelature

Following the publication of Pope Francis’ Motu Proprio Vos estis lux mundi (2019), Opus Dei’s Prelate, Mgr. Fernando Ocariz, issued guidelines for the whole Prelature regarding Safeguarding: Prelature Guidelines for Safeguarding Minors and Vulnerable Persons (2020).

This Safeguarding Policy for the investigation of allegations of abuse of minors or vulnerable adults in the activities of the Prelature of Opus Dei applies to the countries in the Region of North West Europe.

On 28 November 1982, St. John Paul II erected Opus Dei as a Personal Prelature by means of the Apostolic Constitution "Ut sit." Here are some videos and texts on its juridical structure and apostolic mission.

The Statutes of Opus Dei were promulgated by Pope St John Paul II in 1982. Written in Latin, they define precisely the juridical configuration of the Prelature, its organization, and its aims.
