Opus Dei

Each year a group of Irish students organizes a work camp to help needy people in St. Petersburg by refurbishing their dwellings. The work camp has also included students from Finland, the U.S., Lithuania, and Latvia. Joe Flanagan relates his memories of the camp.

Some sixty people from a wide range of professions participated in a symposium organized by Warrane College to mark the first centenary of the founder of Opus Dei, Blessed Josemaría Escrivá.

Loads of mud and little sleep were well worth the chance to be with the Pope, for a group of New York-area girls who went to World Youth Day this summer.

The Murray Hill Institute held its second annual conference entitled "Integrity and Ethics in the Workplace," from October 12-13, 2001. Held at a hotel a few miles from "Ground Zero," the conference, like Manhattan itself, was keenly attuned to the thousands who died on September 11, 2001.

On June 29, about 800 persons gathered near Chicago for a Centennial Conference on “The Vision of Blessed Josemaría Escrivá for a Christian Life Lived to the Full.”

The Congress Hall of Brussels was the scene of a study conference on the life and message of the founder of Opus Dei held on April 20. Among the speakers were the writer François Gondrand and Bishop André-Mutien Léonard of Namur.

"We share the great joy of Opus Dei at the canonization…." Figures from Focolare, Communion and Liberation, Catholic Action, Missionaries of Charity and the Curia express their happiness about the coming canonization of Opus Dei's founder.

The doctors of the Consultation committee have unanimously concluded that the cure indeed was scientifically inexplicable. There has never been a documented case of a cure of radiodermatitis.

We are conscious of having in our hands a treasure, our students, and we are convinced that by forming them well, we are contributing to the improvement of tomorrow's society.

Cardinal of Madrid begins beatification process for Guadalupe Ortíz de Landázuri
