The Monthly Intention: Praying All Together

Here is the intention from 2 October 2021 to 2 October 2022, which the Prelate is suggesting to the faithful and friends of Opus Dei.

Believers know that persevering, united prayer can attain everything. The Pope has often stressed trust in the power of prayer, and each month asks us to pray for particular intentions . At the same time, prayer and action are inseparable: the intentions of our prayer overflow in intense apostolic work in various settings. Therefore from the mid-1950s Saint Josemaría began to set out a monthly intention that would be the aim of the prayer, study and apostolic efforts of many people. Saint Josemaría wanted everyone to take personal responsibility for the needs of the Work, the Church and the world, and to pray and work all together.

General Monthly Intention from 2 October 2021 to 2 October 2022

Besides being united to the intentions of the Holy Father, the Prelate invites the faithful of Opus Dei and their friends to pray for the following intention from October 2, 2021 to October 2, 2022:

Let us pray for the plans for a renewed apostolic impulse and coordination of our apostolic activities, which are being developed in various circumscriptions of the Work. We can contribute to this with our own apostolic plans and initiatives, being open to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. By developing our personal talents in the place where we are, we act as Christian leaven. Jesus is the Lord of History, and he is relying on each of us to renew the world.

Regional Monthly Intention from 2 October 2021 to 2 October 2022

In October 2010, the Prelate of Opus Dei created the Southeast Asian region comprising Singapore and the neighbouring countries of Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. In line with the general monthly intention for the whole of Opus Dei, the Regional Vicar of Opus Dei in Southeast Asia has proposed the following regional monthly intention for the period 2nd October 2021 until 2nd October 2022:

As we make concrete our projects of apostolate with personal initiative, let us ask the intercession of St Josemaria that we may carry them out with the spirit of collegiality that he has always taught us, learning from others by working with them and appreciating their contribution.
