The Regional Assembly of the Region of East and South Asia commenced in December 2023 with the theme: “On the road to the Centenary of the Work: Going more deeply into our charism and renewing our desire to serve God, the Church and society.”
Preparations for the concluding meetings had been underway since early 2024 with surveys and focus group discussions carried out in the different countries of the Region. These garnered feedback from members of the Work and friends.
The concluding meetings were held between 22 August and 15 September in Bukit Tiram (Malaysia) and Okuashiya (Japan). 127 men and women from 10 countries were in attendance. Among the attendees were doctors, nurses, journalists, teachers, architects, lawyers and researchers.
Participants were grouped into different teams according to various topics such as Family and Youth, Charism of Opus Dei and Communication. Each team analysed the results of the relevant data from the surveys and group discussions that were conducted earlier in the year.
As foreseen by the Statutes of Opus Dei, the conclusions will be sent to the Prelate.
The Regional vicar thanks everyone who has contributed to the Assembly and asks for prayers for the spiritual fruits of the event and the General Congress of Opus Dei in the upcoming year. He also reminds everyone to look forward to the next 100 years with hope and a renewed desire to serve God and the Church in Asia.
