Near Nairobi, Kenya, Kimlea began in 1989 under the encouragement of Bishop Alvaro del Portillo. To date about 12,000 women have benefited, most of them young girls working on the tea and coffee plantations.

Four decades after the Communist suppression of the Catholic Church, Xavier Symons travelled with 14 high school boys to Vietnam on a service project. The boys all attend Nairana Study Centre, a centre of Opus Dei in Sydney.

Just prior to Christmas 2012, a strong cyclone tore through Samoa and Fiji.
