On a 24th of August

On 24 August 1930, Isidoro had a long conversation with St. Josemaría Escrivá which immediately led him to join Opus Dei.

On 24 August 1930, Isidoro had a long conversation with St. Josemaría Escrivá, his former high school classmate, who had now been a priest for five years. St. Josemaría explained to him the message of Opus Dei, founded in 1928. Its purpose was to foster the search for holiness and apostolate through professional work and the fulfillment of one’s ordinary duties. Isidoro saw at once that this ideal corresponded fully to his own aspirations and decided to join Opus Dei.

50 years later on 24 August 1980, St Josemaría’s successor, Blessed Alvaro del Portillo was at a get-together at Thornycroft Hall, Macclesfield. “Isidoro already had a desire to dedicate himself to God, and he did not need a lot of time to think it over, since when it is a matter of giving oneself to the Lord, long deliberations aren’t necessary: it is the heart and faith which have to lead.”

Today, we report another small favour through Isidoro’s intercession. Read it here.
