Monsignor Ignatius Sotos

The governance of the prelature of Opus Dei is carried out by the Prelate who is appointed by the Pope.  The Prelate appoints his vicars for each of the territorial circumscriptions in which the prelature is divided all over the world.  In each country, the vicar of Opus Dei is helped in his work by two councils: the Regional Comission for men and the Regional Advisory for women.

The Regional Vicar for Nigeria is Monsignor Ignatius Gonzalez Sotos.  He was born in Madrid on the 26th of September 1947.  He obtained an M.A. in 1970 in Mathematics from the University of Madrid (Spain) and in 1980, he received a doctorate in Theology from the University of Navarre (Spain).  He was ordained a priest for the prelature of Opus Dei on the 15th of August 1979.

The headquarters of the prelature of Opus Dei in Nigeria is at 35 Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
