With 50 days to go before Pope Francis arrives in Kenya and Uganda, we copy here some ideas from the St. Josemaria Institute on how to prepare for the Pope's visit. As in many things in life the more we put into it, the more we will gather. That is why it is important for us to start preparing for the Pope's visit and to also help our family and friends to do the same.

Strathmore College in Kenya was started in 1961, right around the time that Kenya was becoming independent. St. Josemaria encouraged those who were starting the university to resist racial tensions, and insisted that they start an inter-racial school.

As we prepare for the Synod of the Family that Pope Francis has called for later in the year, we are posting some videos prepared by Strathmore University. They reflect the day to day experiences of several employees with their families. They speak about their effort to raise children and to keep the marriage relationship going through the ups and downs of life. They are not special cases but they may be useful reminders for some of us of what it takes to raise a family.

It was on Sunday 17th August 2014, while driving some ladies from Ewaso Residence to celebrate a birthday party in Namanga (along the Kenya/Tanzania border), I had a rare experience.

Together with the Church and many popes, St. Josemaria always taught that we should use the best of everything we have when it comes to dealing with Jesus present in the Blessed Eucharist. For the feast of the Corpus Christi ("Body and Blood of Christ") this year, Strathmore School did just that: they laid the best they had - including a carpet of flowers.

The feast day of St. Josemaria was celebrated for the first time in Lusaka (Zambia) with a Mass celebrated by the nuncio, Archbishop Julio Murat, on 30th June 2015. There were other masses in other East African capitals including Dar es Salam (Tanzania) on 27 June and Kampala (Uganda) on 26 June.
