On Thursday 10th December, the youngest in the Strathmore Family - Eastlands College of Technology - held their official opening ceremony. The event was graced by the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs in the Nairobi County Government, Mr. Christopher Khaemba.

The apostolic journey of the Holy Father Pope Francis to Africa were 5 intense days of celebration, dance and meetings with the faithful, religious, priests, youth, dignitaries and indeed followers of other faiths.

Pope Francis made his first Apostolic Journey to Africa from the 25th to 30th November. He first visited Kenya, then Uganda and finally the Central African Republic. We include links to all the speeches he made during his trip.

At the meeting with young people in Nairobi, Kenya on 27 November, Pope Francis revealed what keeps him going in difficult moments: the Rosary and small "Way of the Cross" that he always carries with him. With some reactions from those who saw him during his visit.

As the arrival date of the Pope to Kenya draws closer, the preparations and excitement has gathered momentum. The media has played a big role with daily articles in the newspapers and different programmes in the local TV stations. The whole country is in expectation of receiving Pope Francis.

A new college of technology with facilities for 800 students was recently inaugurated in a slum district just east of Nairobi, Kenya, where over a million people live in desperate poverty.

With 50 days to go before Pope Francis arrives in Kenya and Uganda, we copy here some ideas from the St. Josemaria Institute on how to prepare for the Pope's visit. As in many things in life the more we put into it, the more we will gather. That is why it is important for us to start preparing for the Pope's visit and to also help our family and friends to do the same.

Strathmore College in Kenya was started in 1961, right around the time that Kenya was becoming independent. St. Josemaria encouraged those who were starting the university to resist racial tensions, and insisted that they start an inter-racial school.
