A true child of God must totally submit to divine will

The Virgin Mary left Nazareth and travelled to Capernaum with some other members of the family. The group arrived at a house where Jesus was surrounded by a crowd of disciples. “Lord I want to pick up my cross and follow you”

It’s hard to look at Jesus on the cross and hear him say, “If anyone wants to be my disciple, let him renounce himself and take up his cross every day and follow me.” Even though you’ll probably never get nailed to a cross, it sounds grim. And you may wonder whether Jesus really meant it when he also said, “Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest ... My yoke is easy and my burden light.”
