I always had a bad opinion of St Josemaria. My boyfriend, who has great devotion to St Josemaria, advised me to pray to him, find out about him, and learn to love him. And astonishingly, that is what happened. The first favor I asked him for perseveringly was for my mother to find work, and today she owns her own shop, which is going excellently. The second favor was for me to get into the faculty of medicine, which I had been trying to do for four years. I am a nurse, and as soon as I finished my nursing degree, I took the university entrance exam again. I got a good mark, like my previous one, and I asked St Josemaria for the favor of being able to enter the faculty of medicine. In July I was told that I had been admitted to a university – it was in a different city, but that didn’t matter to me. The entrance requirement had gone down miraculously and nobody thought it would. I know that he interceded directly in this case and I also know that he wanted me to finish my studies.
Now he has done me another favor and I never stop praying to him for my boyfriend’s job and my own. My boyfriend has been given a six-month contract at a town hall, and I have been contacted by the nursing faculty to help teach some bioethics classes. How many more good things could this saint in heaven give me? Still more: I finished the first quarter’s exams in the town when I am studying medicine, and then I was told that for the second quarter I could transfer to my home town, so that I can more easily combine teaching the bioethics classes and attending my classes in medicine. All of this took place in less than a year. My faith, love and respect for St Josemaria have grown exponentially. He is my friend, he’s a treasure. He is my mediator before God. I know he acts like a true father, guiding me, orientating me, and counseling me to follow the only path that is worthwhile which is the one that our Lord showed us. Following our Lord. That’s all there is to it.
