Two bishops from Bulgaria share their testimony about the impact a secret translation of “The Way” had on their lives and on those of their parishioners in the later 20th century, when faith was persecuted in the country.

On 2 October 1928, St. Josemaría Escrivá saw what God was asking of him: to remind women and men that holiness is possible in the middle of ordinary life. That message continues to “light up the pathways of the earth” nearly a century later.

A philological edition prepared by Fidel Sebastián, with a foreword by the prelate of Opus Dei and brief annotations that seek to bring its history and context closer to all audiences, to commemorate the book’s 100th edition in Spain.

The consecration of Opus Dei to the Most Sweet Heart of Mary took place on 15 August 1951. St. Josemaría carried it out in the Shrine of Loreto, where the Holy House is venerated, speaking spontaneously during Mass. Later, he composed a written formula and asked that it be renewed each year on 15 August. Months earlier, he had invited the members of Opus Dei to pray the aspiration, “Cor Mariæ dulcissimum, iter para tutum!” (Most sweet Heart of Mary, prepare for us a safe way!).

16 July is the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. "Wear on your breast the holy scapular of Carmel," Saint Josemaria said. "Besides, how maternal the sabbatine privilege is!"
