New Website for the Centenary of Opus Dei

A new website to help you prepare for the centenary of Opus Dei, bringing together everything related to the celebration in one place: core materials, resources for your spiritual life, stories from around the world, and updates on what's being planned in your own country.

This October 2 is the start of the first year of preparation for the centenary of Opus Dei, which will be celebrated beginning October 2, 2028. To mark the occasion, a new website has been launched, bringing together everything related to the celebration in one place: core materials, resources for your spiritual life, stories from around the world, and updates on what's being planned in your own country.

In his video marking the start of this year, the Prelate of Opus Dei, Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz, invites us to approach this time as a season of thanksgiving to God with the whole Church, with renewed fidelity and the joy of knowing we are never alone and that we can always start over again. This website is meant to help you walk that path.

Resources for the Journey

Once inside, you'll find the latest news as well as easy access to each section of the site.

The Explore page brings together the core materials on the centenary and the charism: messages and letters from the Father, explanatory videos, special editorials, Be Do Care, and St. Josemaría's letters. It's the best place to start of you want to understand what and why we're celebrating.

Experience offers spiritual resources: editorials, videos, and audio pieces on contemplation, friendship, and work. They are meant for prayer, reflection, and conversation, whether alone with God or together with friends.

In Their Own Words gathers dozens of stories from around the world. People from vastly different backgrounds and professions share how they find God in their daily lives: in an office, in a kitchen, in a hospital, on the subway. You may recognize a little of your own story in theirs.

In My Country is where you'll find everything related to the centenary preparations happening closer to home: a grateful look at ongoing projects, news of upcoming events, and glimpses of what others nearby are doing. Your country's page will become more and more active and local in the coming weeks.

Three Years, Three Broad Themes

In his March 19 message, the Father proposed three themes for these years: being contemplatives in the middle of the world, friends to all, and sanctifying work. This is the same path the first Christians walked; they were men and women from every walk of life who, through their ordinary lives, came "in a youthful spirit, to reap the Gospel’s treasures, so as to take them to all the corners of the earth" (Letter 6, no. 31).

2026-2027: contemplatives in the middle of the world. The first year invites us to discover God in the great and small things of each day, and to get to know the lives of those who dared to say yes and set out on this path, trusting, above all, in the grace of God.

2027-2028: friendship. The second year turns to friendship as the place where faith is shared from person to person and family to family, with the freedom of those who know how to live alongside others who think differently.

2028-2030: work. Over the 500 days of the centenary celebration from October 2, 2028 to February 14, 2030, our focus will be on work: sanctifying work, sanctifying oneself through work, and sanctifying others through work, with professional competence and for love of God, beginning with those closest to us (cf. Conversations, 10).

An Evolving Website

New content will be added little by little so that we can walk this road toward the centenary of Opus Dei together. The Father described the path in these words very recently: "This is my hope for the years ahead: that the Work will be a great school of holiness, helping to make sanctity a reality in everyday life."
