Opus Dei

Shiró is happiest spending time with people: “I need people, and feeling that they need me makes me want to give the best of myself. No man is an island... We need each other.” This openness led her to start her studies in healthcare, and later move to hospitality and catering in her country, Kenya. She also started a social initiative to help street children. All these experiences confirmed her vocation to Opus Dei as an assistant numerary.

“Talk with our Lord; tell Him: ‘I’m tired, Lord. I’m at the end of my strength. Lord, this isn’t going well. How would you do it?’” (St Josemaría).

In his 11 June general audience, Pope Leo XIV continued his catechetical cycle on Jesus Christ, our hope, speaking about the healing of Bartimaeus.

The Prelate of Opus Dei invites us to contemplate the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity and announces that the new Statutes have been submitted to the Holy See for approval.

In each circumscription, in addition to the monthly intention from the Prelate, the Regional Vicar proposes another particular intention for that region. Specifically, for the period from 20th April 2025 to 2nd October 2025 (Anniversary of the foundation of the Work), the proposed prayer intention of East and Southern Africa is as follows.

Biomedical scientist Renata Silvestre describes how her vocation is intertwined with her work in advanced cell therapy, battling cancer while living the spirit of Opus Dei in her daily life. In her story, science and faith are both sources of inspiration and reasons for commitment.

After rising from the dead, Jesus spent forty days teaching his disciples about the kingdom of God. We tend to assume it would have been better if our Lord had stayed here and continued to teach. Imagine how easily he could convince people that he had risen from the dead! Instead, he returned to heaven to be seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

In 2025, Pentecost will be celebrated on Sunday, 8 June. The 10-day devotion to the Holy Spirit is a custom to prepare for this feast, 50 days after Easter.
