In this message, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz announces that plans for the General Congress will be reduced in scope in order to be closely united to the Church during this time of mourning for the passing of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.
