The Monthly Intentions up to October 2022: Praying All Together

Here is the intention from 2 October 2021 to 2 October 2022, which the Prelate is suggesting to the faithful and friends of Opus Dei. Aside from this, the Regional Vicar for the Philippines and Indonesia has specified the particular intention for the region.

Believers know that persevering, united prayer can attain everything. The Pope has often stressed trust in the power of prayer, and each month asks us to pray for particular intentions . At the same time, prayer and action are inseparable: the intentions of our prayer overflow in intense apostolic work in various settings. Therefore from the mid-1950s Saint Josemaría began to set out a monthly intention that would be the aim of the prayer, study and apostolic efforts of many people. Saint Josemaría wanted everyone to take personal responsibility for the needs of the Work, the Church and the world, and to pray and work all together.

Intention from 2 October 2021 to 2 October 2022

Besides being united to the intentions of the Holy Father, the Prelate invites the faithful of Opus Dei and their friends to pray for the following intention from October 2, 2021 to October 2, 2022:

Let us pray for the plans for a renewed apostolic impulse and coordination of our apostolic activities, which are being developed in various circumscriptions of the Work. We can contribute to this with our own apostolic plans and initiatives, being open to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. By developing our personal talents in the place where we are, we act as Christian leaven. Jesus is the Lord of History, and he is relying on each of us to renew the world.

Aside from this, the regional vicar of every circumscription of the Prelature proposes another particular intention for this geographical area. In particular, for the period of October 2, 2021 to October 2, 2022, the prayer intentions of the region of the Philippines and Indonesia is:

May the Holy Spirit inspire each of the faithful of the Work to take greater initiative in their personal apostolate, with the awareness that all of us “pull the cart” in the same direction. Hence, let us coordinate our efforts with the persons guiding us, as well as with other faithful of the Prelature, such that we work towards a common goal that will bring more souls closer to Our Lord.

More specifically, let us focus our efforts in reaping fruits of holiness in the institutions we work in – the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), the schools of Parents for Education Foundation, Inc. (PAREF), the activities of Education for the Upbringing of Children, Inc.(EDUCHILD), the technical schools (Dualtech, CITE), the Family Farm Schools of Pampamilyang Paaralang Agrikultura, Inc. (PPAI), the schools of the Foundation for Professional, Inc. (FPTI) –, working together with the Boards, the different Management Committees, and the Centers for young people and married persons more directly connected with these institutions, so that we employ our opportunities and talents for the service of the souls in those institutions.

“While the good that is done in many places is abundant, we would like our Lord to be able to rely on more hands to help make the joy of the Gospel reach the furthest corner of the world. Neither the disproportion between our personal limitations and the beauty of our vocation and apostolic mission nor external difficulties are reasons to diminish our hope and joy in the service to God, the Church, and the world.” (Letter from the Prelate, January 30, 2021)
