My two daughters and I had booked a flight to Barcelona via Qatar Airways, with a stopover in Doha. However, due to the sudden bombings in the Middle East, we had to change our travel plans. It was very important for us to be in Barcelona on April 19 but because of the situation, we decided to look for alternative flights.

Being on a budget, we struggled to find another airline with a similar fare. The only good option seemed to be Cathay Pacific, but all flights for our needed date were fully booked. The urgency was especially great because my youngest daughter needed to be in Barcelona for work—her office was already pressuring her to rebook. My other daughter and I were accompanying her, and we were all affected by the lack of available flights.

The only option open at that point was Singapore Airlines, but the fare was double the price—something we could not afford.

In the midst of our anxiety, we remembered that March 11 was the birthday of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo. We decided to turn to him and pray for his intercession using his prayer card. While we were praying, my youngest daughter continued to check for available flights, but nothing appeared.

Then, at around 8:00 p.m., she checked again—without expecting much. To our great surprise, the exact flight we needed with Cathay Pacific had suddenly opened up, and we were able to secure three seats.

As if that were not enough, our 3 tickets from Qatar Airways were refunded in full.

When we prayed to Blessed Álvaro, we had a deep sense of peace and confidence that he would intercede for us. During his life, he was known to be a trusted helper of St. Josemaría Escrivá, especially in practical matters, including financial concerns.

We are deeply grateful to God for answering our prayers through the intercession of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo.

We continue to entrust our upcoming trip to his care, praying for safe and peaceful travels from April 18 to April 30.
