Writing about the close of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Prelate urges us "to personally welcome into our heart God’s mercy, and thus to welcome others: to 'bend down' towards them."

This divine locution gave rise to n. 933 in ‘The Way’: "There is a story of a soul who, on saying to our Lord in prayer, ‘Jesus, I love you,’ heard this reply from heaven: ‘Love means deeds, not sweet words.’ "Think if you also could deserve this gentle reproach".

For the Jubilee Year, we will offer each month an audio of the Prelate speaking about each of the works of mercy, with a transcription in English of his words. The December recording is an introduction to the series.

A new anniversary of the founding of Opus Dei and Pope Francis' call to assist those who have been forced to flee their homeland are the central topics of this month's letter.

The Prelate reminds us that the first responsibility for educating children in the faith always lies with the parents and asks for our redoubled prayer for the upcoming Synod on the Family.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, may I always be with the Three.” The Prelate advises us to use these words of St. Josemaria to pray for all families in this Marian year for the family.

The Prelate points to Christ's second coming at the end of time as a source of hope for Christians, and urges us to prepare well for his first coming, at Christmas.

The Prelate suggests that, besides intensifying our prayer, we can also prepare very well for the beatification of Alvaro del Portillo by carrying out works of mercy.
