On the feast day of Blessed Álvaro on 12 May, we share this account of grace that a married couple attributes to his intercession after years of struggle and suffering. Their story is a testimony of trust, faith, and gratitude.

This 23 March marks a new anniversary of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo’s death. Here are three firsthand accounts of how his intercession brought hope and relief, from the book “En todas las circunstancias” (Ediciones Palabra).

I am writing to recount a favor I received recently from Blessed Alvaro.

“Whoever he is; tall or short, fat or thin, from this country or that one, he is Peter.” Let’s accompany our new pope, Leo XIV, guided by the words of Blessed Alvaro del Portillo a few days before his liturgical memorial.

This social initiative, born around the beatification of Álvaro del Portillo, has involved the help of 3,500 volunteers and served 22,500 meals. But what really matter are the people behind the numbers. Each of them has a story of suffering and hardship.

It is indeed with great might and joy that I can testify that I have witnessed and obtained financial favours through invoking Blessed Alvaro. Through his intercession, I never lack!

A friend gave me a prayer card of Don Alvaro to pray for my wife. It was as if it had fallen from heaven.

My situation at work was not easy. On one occasion, I needed a raise; on another, I needed to change location in order to continue with my studies.
