Opus Dei

Opus Dei began in Uganda in 1996. In 2006 Don Javier (the second successor of St. Josemaria) visited the "Pearl of Africa". On Friday 20th December 2019, at 12.45 pm the Father (Monsignor Fernando Ocariz) landed on the same rich soil, the land of the martyrs.

The Father spent Saturday early afternoon with a sizeable group of young men - university students and young professionals - at Tusimba Study Centre for an informal get-together.

On Wednesday 18th December 2019 in the afternoon, the Father had a get-together with young women who frequent centres of Opus Dei all over Kenya. We summarize the main points here.

Wednesday 18th December 11 am. The Father arrives at Eastlands College of Technology (EC), where a few boys from the college were waiting along the driveway to welcome him with posters that read “EC loves you!”

There's a certain throbbing vibration of youth that St. Josemaria was always excited about and that he depended a lot on. That same throbbing vibration was palpable in the air when his third successor visited Strathmore School yesterday evening at 5 pm.

On Tuesday morning, the Father met with various families in Kianda School and also visited Kibondeni College that is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

On the second day, 16th December 2019, the Father celebrated Mass at Kianda School encouraging his daughters to be collaborators of God.

Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz has sent a brief message for the solemnity of the Birth of Jesus.

The plane arriving from Rome touched down at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 7:45 pm for Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz’s first visit to East Africa as Prelate of Opus Dei.
