Priests incardinated in various dioceses (and deacons who expressly declare their intention to go on to the priesthood) can ask for admission to the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross as Associates or Supernumeraries.

What is a personal prelature?

Opus Dei's work of spiritual formation complements the work of local churches. People who join Opus Dei or attend its activities continue to belong to their local dioceses.

Opus Dei has around 90,000 members, both men and women. 98% are laypeople, most of whom are married. The remaining 2% are priests.

Maria Spenger lives in Graz, Austria, with her husband and two daughters. As a Cooperator of Opus Dei, she is grateful for the formation that helps her remain peaceful and find God in those around her.
