Opus Dei

In his 21 September general audience, Pope Francis reflected on his recent apostolic journey to Kazakhstan.

During the 75th anniversary year of Opus Dei coming to Britain we are posting a number of videos telling stories of lives changed by faith. "Looking for formation” is the story of Stephen, from Scotland, who found Opus Dei when he was looking for help to build a solid spiritual life.

St Josemaría’s worldwide impact is evident. Tens of thousands of members, apostolic initiatives aplenty, beatified members… the list goes on. But at the heart of these numbers is what is most important – a personal encounter with God. And for many, this involves a personal encounter with St Josemaría.

Last June, a group of high school students from different parts of the United States traveled to Quisque, in the mountains of Yauyos, Peru. The aim of the service project was to help restore the local church and give English classes to children in the area.

Larissa, who was Protestant, had a Catholic boyfriend in Brazil. At first she thought he was going to convert (and he vice versa). There came a time when their differences seemed unsolvable. But Google helped to solve the problem.

Pope Francis reminds us that “in the light of the Gospel, the death penalty is unacceptable.” Let us not remain indifferent in the face of laws which, in some parts of the world and pray for the abolition of death penalty all over the world.

Rosa's eldest child Leyre was born with a congenital malformation and needs to use a wheelchair, while two of her other children are autistic. Her strong faith has given Rosa strength to help her children confront life with joy.

In his 7 September general audience, Pope Francis continued his cycle of catechesis on spiritual discernment with the example of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
