Guadalupe's Beatification will be held at Vistalegre Arena (Madrid)

The beatification of Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri, the first lay person of Opus Dei to be raised to the altars, will take place in the Vistalegre pavilion, a well-known event space in Madrid.

For more than a hundred years, Vistalegre has witnessed concerts, bullfights, political campaigns, videogame conferences... and also religious ceremonies. Last year the beatification of the martyrs of the Vincentian Family was celebrated there. In addition, several large gatherings of faithful and friends of Opus Dei with Bishop Javier Echevarría, the previous Prelate, also took place at Vistalegre in 2011 and 2012. The video below shows a moment from one of those encounters, on the occasion of the World Youth Day that was held in Madrid.

"Not only does the team at Vistalegre have plenty of experience with this type of ceremony; the venue also has very good technical facilities, and this will allow many people who cannot physically attend the beatification to still be able to participate in a digital way," said María Beamonte, director of the Beatification committee.
