The very final day of the end of their last secondary school academic year, with very little time to rest, 35 young men closed their suitcases to get ready to fly to Nairobi (Kenya) on a volunteer activity which would last 2 weeks. They would be helping out in some schools of the poorest slums of the country.

Every year, staff, students and friends from Eastlands College of Technology get together to summit the third highest peak of Mt. Kenya at 4,999m above sea level.

"When Pope Francis declared a Year of Mercy starting in December 2015, it set me thinking about works of mercy. In a meeting with friends to discuss possible projects, someone mentioned how he used to go with a group of volunteers to a prison to attend Sunday Mass there with the prisoners."

Citywise is an educational program in Dublin helping young people from difficult city backgrounds to aim high in life. It is inspired by the message of Saint Josemaria.

Strathmore University students helped to build this church in the diocese of Kitale. Over the years they sourced for funds and did some physical work to help the local community make this project a reality.

"After praying for the poor, the children made 200 sandwiches twice, with care and generosity." An outreach towards the poor, inspired by "Laudato Si."

The Great Rift Valley is home to a world-renowned community - the Maasai. They are among the best known local populations due to their their distinctive customs and dress. I belong to the Maasai community.

Some Italian volunteers are trying to help children whose fathers are in prison to reopen communication with them, especially through drawings and games.
