After a short welcome, he and the guests were led outside the main workshop where the guest of honour planted a commemorative tree. They then proceeded to cut the ribbons and to take a tour of the facilities before returning to the decorated parking area for speeches.
The Principal of ECT - Mr. Austin Omeno - outlined the vision the new college has set out on, their ambitions, challenges and the "Dual Training System" they employ where students get hands-on time in the industry as part of their training in ECT.
The Chairman of the Strathmore Educational Registered Trustees, Dr. Caesar Mwangi, spoke on the transformation wrought on that campus since they last assembled together two years back for the ground-breaking ceremony.
Mr. Khaemba in his speech made many suggestions as to partnerships the College could venture into and also remarked on how impressed he was by the ECT students who had already employed the skills they had learnt at the College to install the electric fence around the compound as well as the network cabling for the computer labs he had toured earlier that morning.
The ceremony was also attended by the Vicar of Opus Dei for Eastern Africa, Rev. Fr. Dr. Silvano Ochuodho, many friends, benefactors, families of students and the Ghetto Classic Orchestra that provided the entertainment.
Spiritual formation in ECT is entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei.
