Opus Dei

At a Mass attended by 4,000 people, the Prelate stressed the close tie between our daily life and the Eucharist. St. Josemaria celebrated Mass on the same site in 1967 and gave a well-known homily.

The Prelate invites us to grasp more deeply the reality of the Communion of Saints, by strengthening our union with the members of the Church in heaven, in purgatory, and on earth.

A small copy of St. Josemaria's book "The Way" was sent down to the 33 miners while they were trapped underground at the San José mine in Chile.

Students from Germany, Spain, Sweden and Uganda last summer helped build an elementary school in Africa.

Without love, life wouldn’t be worth living. Therefore St. Josemaría counseled: “Fall madly in love,” both when our love is in heaven and when it’s on earth (0’58”).

On Sunday, September 5, Bishop Javier Echevarría, Prelate of Opus Dei, ordained two Associate members of the Prelature in the shrine of Torreciudad: Josep Maria Viñolas Esteva, an agricultural engineer from Spain, and Mario Vera Juárez, a computer engineer from Mexico. Yuri lives in Kiev (Ukraine) with his wife and daughter. He was baptized seven years ago. Soon after becoming a Catholic he met Opus Dei, which he says was another "big discovery."

The Prelate speaks about devotion to the guardian angels, whose feast is celebrated by the Church on October 2nd. This is also the day on which Opus Dei was founded.

When addressing the Catholic students of England, Scotland and Wales during his recent visit, Benedict XVI said: " I want the very best for you. And by far the best thing for you is to grow in holiness."
