Guatemala City, 4 August

The Father arrived in Guatemala City this afternoon, beginning his pastoral visit to four cities in Central America.

At the airport, he crossed paths with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, who was departing Guatemala at the end of a visit to the country, and greeted him warmly.

He later travelled to the Balanyá University Centre, where he was welcomed with great affection by members of the Work. The family of Rodrigo and Tita welcomed him enthusiastically on behalf of many Guatemalan families.

On Wednesday afternoon he will have a meeting with priests.
