In Torreciudad: "God loves us madly"

From August 18 to 21, the Prelate of Opus Dei was in the shrine of Torreciudad, where he celebrated a public Mass and met with several groups of faithful. This was the last of his pastoral trips during July and August, after having traveled to Milan, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia.

Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz celebrated Holy Mass in the shrine of Torreciudad on the 20th. During the homily ( click here to read), he thanked God for the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination, and invited those taking part in the ceremony (and those following it on YouTube) to ask our Lord to increase our faith in order to discover God’s love also in suffering: “This is only possible with faith and looking at Christ’s Cross, striving to identify ourselves with Him. Faith gives us light to grasp this marvelous truth: God is truly Love. He loves us madly, with a ‘madness’ that led Him to the Cross to save us.”

During these three days, he had several get-togethers with groups of young men and women. When asked about how they could bring Christ to their friends, he replied: “As our Father (Saint Josemaría) said when presenting to us the immense panorama of putting Christ at the summit of all human activities, you need to be people with interior life, souls of prayer, Eucharistic souls. That is the key: it is the strength of our Lord himself.”
