From 1970 to 1975, St. Josemaría made numerous journeys across the Iberian Peninsula and the Americas, where he held gatherings with a wide variety of people, speaking to them with simplicity and spontaneity about faith and Christian doctrine, society and education, and a host of other topics, kindling in his listeners a desire for self-improvement and holiness.
St. Josemaría, recalling the moments when Jesus would get together with the apostles informally and spend time with them, remarked that those gatherings had “the flavour of the first Christians.”1 He described the conversations the risen Christ had with his disciples as “the gospel of the get together.”
