What does God’s voice sound like when He calls young people today?

There are as many answers to that question as there are people. He speaks through the dreams and aspirations that inspire us, the provocative questions that knock us out of our usual routines, and the gift of peace that makes us confident we’re on the right path.

In this video series, young people from Australia, France, Italy, South Africa, Spain, and the United States share how they discovered their vocation to Opus Dei. Every story is different, but they all have something in common: the certainty that God still calls us today, in the middle of ordinary life, with words we can always hear in the depths of our hearts.

When I was younger, I never considered living my faith seriously. I had a few “conversion moments,” in which I discovered God a bit more, and others in which I lost Him, up until the start of the pandemic. Suddenly I was alone, and I found God. My life was quiet like it had never been before, and I started to think, philosophize, and read more.

Then, when we were finally able to go out with friends again, I started going to all kinds of parties, until I met a girl who really caught my attention. And I don’t know if it was luck or skill, but things went well and we started dating.

That was when I started to think seriously about how I wanted to do things. I like to do things well. So I said: “If I’m going to love this woman, I’m going to love her properly.” And I asked myself: how can I love her in the best way possible? The answer was to love her following the example of the teacher of love, God. So, because I was trying to love her as best as I could, I found myself getting closer to the Lord. I was getting much closer to God.

So I developed my life of faith. After that, I kind of couldn’t stop. I discovered that the most important thing was to imitate Christ, to identify myself with Him. And I saw that path in the Work: I saw a way to imitate Christ and truly be happy.

The best time to start being happy is right now. And I found that happiness by living my faith to the fullest, completely.
