The Holy Door Pope Francis opened is still open now. Pope Leo XIV welcomed over a thousand young people in Rome for the Jubilee of Youth.
He invited us to go as "pilgrims of hope," and that's what brought us there.
What is hope?
There are many facets to this question. Maria, who was born in Baghdad and is now a refugee in the Netherland, calls the miracles she's seen in her own life, including her vocation to Opus Dei, "hope." Michael, who travelled with a group from Germany, believes that hope is the certainty that Jesus is present even in the most difficult situations. Mia, a convert to Catholicism from Estonia, says that hope in Christ is the reason we're alive, and the reason she got to celebrate the Jubilee in Rome. Daniel, from Spain, echoes something the Pope said over and over during the Jubilee: hope is Jesus Christ.
In his welcome address, Pope Leo XIV told us that we are a message of hope, and in the farewell at Tor Vergata, he reminded us that "Jesus is our hope. It is He, as St. John Paul II said, who provokes in us the desire to make something great of our lives (...), to grow and to improve society, making it more human and more fraternal."
The Pope challenged us to be a "message of hope." Keep checking this page for stories that reflect this commitment to Christ and to the world.
