“You are a child of God”

Baptism makes us fideles, faithful. This is a word that was used ‑‑ like sancti, the saints ‑‑ by the first followers of Jesus to refer to one another. These words are still used today: we speak of the faithful of the Church. Think about this. (The Forge, 622)

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him…and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matt 3:13,17).

In Baptism, God our Father has taken possession of our lives. He has made us share in the Christ’s life and sent us the Holy Spirit.
