Historical Journey of Opus Dei and St Josemaria

A seminar at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre to explore the significance of this divine journey on 14th February.

On October 2nd, 1928, the Feast of the Guardian Angels, St Josemaría founded Opus Dei by divine inspiration. Eighty years have since gone by. The events during this 80-year journey are a revelation of the fingerprint of the Holy Spirit, and they bear witness to the steadfast faith of St Josemaría.

For an understanding of this historical journey of Opus Dei and St Josemaría, a seminar is being organized for friends to explore the significance of this journey from a few different perspectives.

We will begin with a talk by Fr. Javier de Pedro, a priest of Opus Dei. He personally knew the Founder of Opus Dei. Fr. de Pedro has lived in Asia since 1964, arriving that same year to begin the first Centre of Opus Dei in the Philippines with another priest and 3 laymen. From Manila, the Work would move on to Hong Kong (1981), Singapore (1982), Taipei (1985) and Macau (1989). Fr. de Pedro presently lives in Hong Kong.

The day for this seminar has been selected to coincide precisely with the 79th anniversary of the founding of the women’s section of Opus Dei on 14th February 1930. A similar was organized in November 2008 with the participation from over 70 friends, old and new.

The programme includes:

1. A talk by Fr. Javier de Pedro about “The Journey of St Josemaría & Opus Dei”

2. Personal testimonies by some members and Cooperators of Opus Dei

3. A short film entitled “Meeting St Josemaría”
