“I assure you, my sons and daughters, that when a Christian carries out with love the most insignificant everyday action, that action overflows with the transcendence of God. That is why I have told you repeatedly… that the Christian vocation consists of making heroic verse out of the prose of each day. Heaven and earth seem to merge, my sons and daughters, on the horizon. But where they really meet is in your hearts, when you sanctify your everyday lives.” St Josemaría Escrivá, Homily, 8 October 1967. These words were pronounced by St Josemaría in his homily, Passionately Loving the World, at an open-air Mass on the university campus of Navarre, Spain. As we commemorate his feast this June 26, it could be a good occasion to further the Christian commitment to seek holiness, even in the ordinary affairs of each day, and to help many others discover this path.
